Nowadays, Malang
City is the one of tourism object target where many tourists want to visit it.
Innovations, which can increase the number of visitor, are needed to develop
it. The innovation also can make the visitors interested and they will not feel
bored. Kampung Tour is an innovation of tour package in which the objects are
the areas of Malang City which have something special and unique. Kampung Tour
has 6 tourism objects:
1. Kampung Semeru
2. Kampung Madura
3. Kampung Belanda
4. Kampung Arab
5. Kampung China
6. Kampung Arema
Kampung SEMERU
Kampung Semeru
is kampung which is located in Semeru Street. The kampung is quiet and it is
not crowded. People living there is very friendly. The condition of the kampung
is compatible with people who need quite place to create inspiration. To know
much about kampung Semeru, this is information about kampung Semeru according
to the interview report with Mr Erik, the original people who live in the
kampung.
“This area is
familiar with kampung semeru. Exactly, the name of kampung Semeru is follows
the name of the street. So, there is no connection with society in Semeru
Mountain. There is no traditional celebration of people in kampung Semeru. The
language which is used by people is Javanese language. Though the kampung have
no special object to be visited, there are visitors come to kampung Semeru.
Usually, there is a man who always comes to draw the condition around the
kampung. He says that the painting is very expensive if he sells it in France. But, he
never came for several weeks ago. Then, the visitors can do fishing near with
Semeru’s dam.”
Kampung MADURA
Kampung Madura
is kampung in which there are many Madurese people live there. The kampung
shows the life of Madurese people. This kampung is not the business center of
Madurese people but just for staying. Entering RT12 RW 4 Kelurahan Kota Lama,
many Madurese people’s houses there. The location structuring is very crowded.
But, the condition is quite from business activities. How is the history of
Madurese people there? How is their life? This is an interview report with the
leader of RT 12 RW 4, Kelurahan Kota Lama.
“Historically,
this area was stayed by Javanese people. But, many people from Madura come to
here and buy the ground. For long time, Javanese people move to other area.
Until now Javanese people is not in great quantities in this area. As Madurese
people, they are temperamental people. If, somebody does something bad to them,
they can be angry. On the contrary, if somebody is kind to them, they will
reward him/her. Usually, one house can be stayed by 12 persons or more.
Madurese people here are just for business, so they do not do their traditional
celebration like in their hometown. Almost all of them are moslems and
graduated from pondok pesantren (Islamic Boarding School). In daily
activities, they use Madura language. Kampung Madura itself is in Kota Lama,
Muharto and Kebalen.”
Kampung BELANDA
Kampung Belanda
here is area around Ijen. In fact, it is difficult to find Dutchmen in this
area, but, this area has history which can become the background of the dubbed
of Kampung Belanda.
Historically, Ijen
boulevard was Dutchmen’s houses area. This area was only for Dutchmen. Original
people were forbidden to enter this area. But now, of course all people can
enjoy the scenery of this area. The
Ijen Boulevard as a main street in the extension of Malang to the west (1930)
was considered to be one of the most beautiful streets of all cities in Java
during that time. The entire style of this flashy street with palm trees was
pimped up with many parks. After the Indonesian independence Ijen Boulevard
changed name into Grand Ijen Street, now it became Ijen Street.
Ijen Boulevard is decorated
with Bougenville flowers and Palm trees with the background of
old-fashioned-Dutch architecture houses. Brawijaya Army Museum is also located
in this boulevard with its old weapons used in independence war. Beside that,
Immanuel Church and the Public Library also located across the road, it has
thousands of literatures.
Besides the beautiful
scenery, visitors can see and buy cuisine. Many facilities are also available
in Ijen. Specially, a wonderful program had been celebrated in this area during
two years ago. That is Malang Old Festival, a program which people can enjoy
the old condition of Malang and more understand about the history of Malang
itself. All of description shows how potential Ijen area as kampung Belanda.
Kampung ARAB
Kampung Arab is
kampung where many Arabic people live there. There are many kampung Arab in
Malang. For the example is in Kelurahan Kasin, around Sarif Al-Qodri Street, or people familiar with the
name Embong Arab. Entering RT 3 RW 10, many
Arabic people’s houses there. They do their activities like other Javanese
people. How is the history of Arabic people there? How is their life? This is
an interview report with the leader of RT 3 RW 10, Kelurahan Kasin.
“The original
Arabic people came to Malang in 1930. Some of them are from Yemen and all of
them are men. They got marry with Javanese people and they produce inherit.
Now, they grow and stay in Malang especially in this area in big number. They
do not have their own community. They live together and rub shoulders with
Javanese people. But, they do not join the Javanese ritual activities like slametan,
yasinan, diba’an and etc. When there is people death, they come to his/her
house. If the people are poor, they give some money. Inversely, if rich Arabic
people death, the family give some money to people who pays his respects to the
family of the deceased.
Arabic people do not have special tradition. Formerly, they have hadrah training.
Hadrah is one of religious art like seribu tangan dance. But, it
is never done now. Their language is Javanese language. They seldom use Arabic
language instead some of them do not have ability to talk Arabic. Generally,
both Arabic people and Javanese people live together harmoniously.”
Kampung CHINA
Kampung China is
kampung in which there are many Chinese people live there. People call this
area with Pecinan area. The kampung shows the life of Chinese people and
it is located in Pasar Besar Street, Kota Lama till Kayutangan. This kampung is
also the business center of Chinese people so that almost all the areas are
shopping center, market, ruko and etc.
This area is very strategic
to run the business. The location is near with Pasar Besar, the downtown in
Malang City. So, it is clear if almost all people’s requirements are available
in this area.
As the one of tourism
object, Kampung China has a place in which people should not overlook this
place. This place can make visitors feel that they are in China. The
architecture and all side of this place are touched by China nuance. The place
is “Eng An Kiong Temple”. This temple is located in RE. Martadinata Street,
beside Pasar Besar. After entering the gate, tribute altar looks like welcome
to the visitors. Visitors will find many exclusive Chinese things. The most
interesting are the two dragons which look like in fight. These are exclusive
photos which are taken from “Eng An Kiong Temple”
Kampung AREMA
Kampung Arema is
kampung in which there are many Malang people who have preference and have
loyalty with Malang. The kampung is usually signed by Singo Edan (Crazy Lion)
statue. There are many kampung Arema in Malang City. For the example is area in
Kelurahan Tunjungsekar.
People life
there is same with other kampung. People do their activity, many kids back home
from mengaji (activities in where children can study to read Alqur’an)
in TPA or TPQ (school for mengaji), and some people are busy with their
business. But, what are something special and the unique of this kampung?In
this kampung, we can find many AREMANIA or AREMANITA, an association of AREMA
football club supporter. They are really crazy of AREMA. They always support
AREMA football club when AREMA join in competition. They are creative supporter
and they never give up in glorifying AREMA. In this kampung also, there is the
house of AREMA’s
cheer leader named Yuli Sumpil. He is very famous in civitas AREMANIA. His
house shows how love he is with AREMA. He paints his house with the symbol of
AREMA (Singo Edan). He always leads AREMANIA and AREMANITA in every
competition.
AREMA and
AREMANITA have other unique. In daily speaking, they use boso walikan,
the language in which some words are spoken from the backside such as mas become
sam, tidak become kadit. As the supporter, they use
material or souvenir where the symbol of AREMA is available like t-shit, scarf,
hat, etc.
What we learn
Beside we can visit and
enjoy every Kampung, actually we can learn much from people in that kampung.
For example, we can learn how to be solid, loyal and fight obstinately in
Kampung AREMA. Then, in Kampung China, Belanda and Arab, we can learn how to
respect people which have different race, culture and also religion.
Solution to be developed
People in the area must keep
sapta pesona because Sapta Pesona is very important. It is important, not to
the tourism object only, but to all areas in Malang.
Suggestion for the government
1.
Government must
care about areas which have something special and unique because actually it
can give income and profit. Many areas in Indonesia, especially Malang, have
many areas which can be visited as tourism objects. But actually, it clashes
with expense. It is better if government give more because it will back to the
government again.
2.
All government
part must play along. In Indonesia, everything about tourism, certainly, is
organized by Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata. But, everything about tourism is
not the problem of that Department only. Every department must be in close
collaboration such as department which organizes the cleanliness and safety.
So, it can be sure that it will be good.
3.
The promotion of
the tourism object in Indonesia must be done well both intern and extern.
4.
Government must
give counseling to the society about the important of carrying environment.
